He Was Getting Married, But His Mother Was Sick, What He Did Made EVERYONE Break Down in Tears! WOW!
ALS or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a terrible disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. What causes it is unknown. Only 5-10% of cases are inherited. More than 12,000 people in the U.S. have a definite diagnosis of ALS. More often it affects white males ages 60-69, but it may affect anyone anywhere. ALS causes progressive degeneration of the motor neurons which eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the brain loses its ability to initiate and control muscle movement. With time, affected people lose the ability to speak, eat, move and finally breathe. Currently, there is no cure that stops or reverses ALS. The only FDA approved drug, riluzole, only modestly slows the progression of ALS in some people. Scientists are working on learning more about the disease. That’s what the Ice Bucket challenge was all about, to raise money for research and to spread the awareness.
